Biochemist, microbiologist (PhD/MSc)

Berkeley, Gloucestershire. Salary to £32k

Green Fuels Research is recruiting for a researcher to join our team engaged on projects to develop novel renewable fuels. There is the opportunity to work on a range of applications, from agricultural waste processing to aquaculture to aviation fuel.

This is a multidisciplinary activity, and we’re open to applications from scientists able to contribute in fields such as biochemistry, plant physiology, microbiology and biological chemistry. We’re particularly keen to hear from people with multiple skill sets and who can show that they are adaptable and flexible in applying themselves to whatever the situation demands. Some projects may give an opportunity for international travel.

To be considered for this role, you must have a postgraduate qualification (PhD or research-based MSc) in a relevant scientific subject, and must have experience of hands-on, independent work in the laboratory or workshop. Experience in biofuels, biofuel feedstock or in green chemistry would be an advantage but are not essential. More important are an entrepreneurial mindset and an open-minded approach to problem solving.

If successful, you will be joining a small but growing team in a research-based company, building on our sister company’s 14 years’ experience in the biofuels business, working at our science-park facilities in Berkeley, Gloucestershire. Your work will help the aviation, road transport and energy industries meet their environmental responsibilities, and help us to build a better world.
